Cell Sorting

Basic principle:

1. Prepare cells as a single-cell suspension.

2. Label cells with fluorescent antibodies that bind specific surface or intracellular markers.

3. Cells pass one at a time through a laser beam.

4. Detectors measure light scattering and fluorescence.

5. A computer identifies cells of interest using predefined gates.

6. The instrument separates the selected cells into different collection tubes.
